Nicolosi & Fitch gives hope with Tucson Homeless Connect

On Friday, April 26, many members of the Nicolosi & Fitch family volunteered at the Tucson Homeless Connect held at Trinity Presbyterian Church.  This event, which serviced over 250 homeless individuals, provided access to social service organizations, food, haircuts, veterinarian services, legal assistance, bicycle repairs, medical services and assistance to obtain identification cards.  Additionally, all guests at the event were able to enjoy a small breakfast and a hot lunch. Yardi Systems, Inc. (NFI’s property management software provider) donated 150 backpacks to the event and these were filled with hygiene kits for the attendees.

A special thanks to the NFI volunteers:  Nancy Nicolosi, Elizabeth Beaulieu, Brett Hart, Lori Thompson, Armando Arvizu, Rosa Duarte, Sandra Jimenez, Gerardo McMillian, Jodi Jackson, Kelly Atwell, Linda Morales, Lauren Reece, and Katie Macias. Kim Fitch serves on the Tucson Homeless Connect Board of Directors and is secretary of the board. 

The Tucson Homeless Connect is an event held twice per year and NFI adopted it as the company philanthropy last year. The next event will be held in the fall.

2013 Tribute Award Finalists

Davena was employee of the month in May 2012, the NFI Leasing Consultant of the Year and she dressed up as dancing frog looking for leases. If this video doesn't scream team player I don't know what will.

At the NFI Year End Awards Sandstone won the Property Manager of the Year, Assistant Property Manager of the Year and Property of the Year Awards. It's no surprise to us the Sandstone Team is award worthy!

On February 1^st, NFI will celebrate its 8^th anniversary.  WOW!  Time sure flies!!  Nancy and I would like to thank all of our clients, employees and residents.

Almost all of our clients have been with us from DAY 1 (well – even before Day 1 when we were SPM).  We thank you for your continued confidence in NFI.   We value our relationship with you and treat your properties as if they were our own.   

We are most fortunate to work with a great group of professionals who always have their eyes on doing the best job they can.  Of our trusted TEAM members, 26% have been with us since our inception and 44% have been with us for over 5 years!  WOW.  Thank you so much.  We can’t express our deepest gratitude for your energy, dedication, flexibility, sense of humor and attention to detail.  You are what makes NFI successful.  And a SPECIAL THANK YOU to our corporate TEAM – you all have been with us thru thick and thin and every day is so much better because you’re here!

October Employee of the Month - Sonia Valenzuela

Sonia Valenzuela leased up our new Sonrisa Apartment Community in record time while still maintaining over 90% occupancies in all her other special needs properties. She has added two new social service organizations that she must deal with on a monthly basis by adding this one property and has kept on top of her re-certifications and monthly inspections (all her units – 158 of them) have to be inspected MONTHLY. Additionally, Sonia had two state inspections during the month with the AZ Department of Housing and one lender inspection. Sonia regularly has to work late to accommodate the social service organizations holding “community meetings” for our residents at the various locations. In September, she stayed late at least once and also toured Congressman Raul Grajalva around her new community. She has a special app on her phone that is connected to the clubhouse at her new community that she monitors when she is not at the property (and even checks it when she wakes up in the middle of the night just to make sure all is well)!

Steve Weber - Altamira Apartments  -Tucson, AZ

Steve Weber, Maintenance Supervisor at Altamira Apartments - Tucson, AZ

Steve has been at Altamira for over 10 years now as the Maintenance Supervisor. In September, we had the parking lot resurfaced and with only one way in and out of the property, it can be challenging. Steve worked with the paving company and residents to ensure that there was clear communication for everyone so this project would be smooth and successful. Throughout the process the paving company was very impressed with Steve’s ability to communicate with them and the residents and that not a single car was towed in the process. Steve was always in early and staying late to ensure that this project went off without a hitch along with keeping up with his other duties on the property. Great job Steve!

Will Dance for Apartment Rentals

What would you do to promote your apartment community?  The Woods Apartments in Tucson, AZ was inspired by Psy's "Gangnam Style"; you know that little earworm of a song currently making the "Call Me Maybe" rounds of every youtube video, morning talk show and anything else that emits sound.

The Woods lovely leasing agent, Davena, memorized the moves from the original video and took to the streets in a frog costume with a sign. She's a good sport. Why a frog you ask? During monsoons you can actually spot a frog or two hopping around the property.  Welcome Ribbit - The Official Mascot for The Woods Apartments.
